The original St. Paul’s was consumed by the Great Fire of 1666, its medieval bones turned to ash in a night that nearly erased a city.
From those ruins rose Christopher Wren’s masterpiece — not just a cathedral, but a testament to rebirth.

I didn’t mean to find this. I was chasing light, looking for something more obvious a wide shot, a cleaner frame, a story that would tell itself.
But this was waiting.
A chair no longer upright. A porch no longer swept. A home no longer called that.
And the vines they don’t ask permission. They take root where memory has loosened its grip.
Some things fade slowly, in cracked tile and silent bricks.
Some things crumble all at once.
And some things, like this, just stay quietly claiming space in the story no one thought to tell.

The first time, I was moving too fast.
The second, I was inside my head.

There wasn’t a sign or a door or a story I could name,

The moss was thick.
The windows were gone.
But the bones of the place were still standing,
and that felt like a kind of defiance.

That’s what this work is, mostly.
Standing still long enough
for something forgotten to speak.
And learning to listen
without needing to understand.

They came for mini‑flags, carts, and neon lights
Laughter echoing under Opryland nights.
Now weeds creep through the cracks in the track,
And silence drapes what’s never coming back.

But the story didn’t end when the games shut down…
For those with nowhere else to go, this became refuge
a sanctuary with broken walls and echoes of joy.

Where kids once played, now lives are paused,
Tucked into shadows, without applause.

A mystery of amusement lost and a reminder found
of who we overlook when the lights go out.

Echoing with the Grand Ole Opry’s applause, flanked by Opry Mills and hotels stood a curious family playground: putt‑putt golf, go‑karts, video games, even a local pizzeria. A quirky kingdom built for fun, now erased from the map. Where once laughter echoed, a blank canvas awaits.

The mini‑putt course and go‑karts closed after a new management team came in. Many locals as well as tourists complained about there being no upkeep of the go-karts and game room. There was no maintenance of the grounds and multiple people spoke out about the smell of the stagnant water or the broken places along the course greens. The site now sits vacant with remnants of a homeless camp. The site will be up for auction starting September 8, 2025 with a starting bid at $1,800,000.
